I always had a passion for aviation, fuelled especially by my father’s involvement in industry as pilot for British Airways.
I finished school aged 18 and made the decision to embark immediately on pilot training.
I chose an integrated course in January 2013, believing it to contain all the necessary training to become a modern commercial pilot. After completing my course, I had an exceptional standard of manual handling on a single pilot aircraft, but noticed a distinct lack of preparation for flying the line as an airline pilot.
I originally heard about Kura whilst researching ways in which I could improve my skill set and bridge the gap between being a CPL/IR holder on a light aircraft and a commercial airline pilot flying hundreds of passengers.
I attended the Professional Flight Training Exhibition (now Pilot Careers Live) at Heathrow and was impressed when Managing Director, Isobel Hall, took a significant amount of time out to talk to me about my future career.
I enrolled soon after and found the BESTPILOT programme to be exceptional. The trainers allowed me to grow in confidence and helped me develop many useful technical and non-technical skills which have given me the reassurance and confidence that I am now a fully prepared airline First Officer candidate.
I attended an interview and sim assessment with Ryanair in Dublin, because I was really keen to fly the B737. The detailed preparation and training I received at Kura allowed me to undertake my selection process with confidence and a belief that I could pass. I was delighted to be offered the job and cannot wait to start my type rating in February.
